Canakkale province, located  in the Marmara region is a city covering an area both in the Asian side and European (Thrace) side, Canakkale city  is seperated into 2 parts with a strait carrying the same name. Canakkale strait connects the Marmara Sea and Aegean Sea increase the strategical importance of the Canakkale city location.

Canakkale surrounded with Balikesir, Tekirdag cities and Aegean and Marmara seas.

The Surface area of the Canakkale is 9737   square kilometers and population of the city is approximately  500.000
