Cavusin

When travelled 2 km from Goreme to Avanos, on the right side of the road you will see the Cavusin.

Cavusin, which is one of the oldest settlement of the Cappadocia region,  collapsed by an earthquake in 1950’s and after that it was moved to its present location. The old houses survived from the earthquake today can be seen in rocks.

One of the most importat church of the region, The church of St. John the Baptist, is also located in Cavusin.  

The another important place to visit is; Cavusin church, that built for the name of Byzantine empire Nicefor Focas. Church also registered  to the world heritage list in 1985. The frescos and paintings on the walls of church are remarkable and worth to see. Entrance fee of Cavusin church is 8 TL.
