Side
In time, side was a small part of
Manavgat however today side as big and developed as manavgat parallel to improvements
and increasing popularity of tourism in Antalya.
During the high season of the
year i mean in summers parking
and driving in the city center is not allowed due to the the density of population in the area. That`s why you need to park your car
to the entrance of the antique city.
Side was founded by the local people of Aiolis an ancient Anatolian civilization. It
is thought that the name of side means pomegranate in time. The pomegranate
seals and marks on the antique coins belong the roman empire period are proving
the the general thought about the meaning of Side.
Side antique city just founded on the edge of a small peninsula still
looks glorious with it is remnants . Apollo and Athena temples, theater with capacity
of 15000 people , agora and museum exhibiting the antiques found from the
excavation of Side antique site and other ancient sites around.
Besides cultural attraction of Side
other attractions such as sea, beaches , shopping , restaurants are
available. Side is an opened area without trees and shades so it is better to
take your parasol with you. Sea is very shallow in Side even walking 100 mt in
the sea the depth of the sea still will
be under your knees. Sea and beach is formed by fine sand in side.
How to go side ;
Turn the south from the 72nd km of the road from Antalya to Alanya and after following the way 6 km more you will reach the side.
Distance from side to manavgat is 7 km. Minibuses are available from side to
nearby areas however regular buses can
also be taken from big bus station| otogar | to Antalya and other big cities.
