 Mersin – Maiden’s  castle

 

A castle built  on a small island which located just accross to the ancient Korykos city between Mersin – Silifke highways.

 

It is known that the castle built to prevent any possible attacks can be made from the sea to the Korykos city. 

 

Castle has an important place in the Ottoman history  as well. The cem Sultan son of the Sultan Mehmed the conquerer had stayed in this castle and fought againsts Rhodes knigts.

Maiden’s castle composed of 8 towers and 250 mt long defending walls both from northern and southern parts.

 

The castle has been the symbol of Mersin ( icel ) city today  is a must place to visit.
